NATO's role in the evolving Ukraine-Russia War

Recently, I attended a Dallas World Affairs Council panel discussion on the topic of NATO's role in the Ukraine-Russia war. On the panel was Fiona Hill(Brookings Institue), David Kramer(George W. Bush Center), Constanze Stelzenmüller(Center on the United States and Europe), and Rudy Bush(Dallas Morning News). There is a lot of debate on whether countries should spend their money and resources on Ukraine's defense against Russia. In fact, 2/3 of NATO countries have spent at least 2% of their defense budget on financing Ukraine, the largest spending since the Cold War. There are wo main reasons for this high spending. Many governments believe that letting Russia take Ukraine could lead to a domino effect of invasions. There is also a responsibility to uphold international law and prevent authoritarianism. Especially with China and North Korea allying with Russia, a question arises: Will the western powers unite to take on these rising countries?
